Culture and Jazz

It is incredible that in this era anyone would make a distinction between “high culture” and jazz, as Museum of Television & Radio curator Allen Glover did (“In Perfect Tune With His Century,” by John Henken, Feb. 17).
Anyone who has heard Duke Ellington or Art Tatum--among countless others--should know that jazz is “high culture.” I think Glover has spent too much time in front of his television and not enough time with “high culture.”
