Eighth-ranked Irvine (14-1) on Tuesday faces its first top-10 opponent, Rosary, which played its last two games without leading scorer Maggie Barnett. The 10th-ranked Royals, though undersized against visiting Irvine, could provide the Vaqueros their stiffest test to date. In another nonleague game matching ranked teams, No. 2 Mater Dei plays at No. 4 Foothill on Tuesday. The Monarchs defeated Foothill, 61-39, last week, but the dynamic of that game could be changed dramatically if Foothill’s Chavaughn Brown plays; she missed last week’s game with a foot injury.
Woodbridge and Laguna Hills, hoping to knock off favored Irvine for the Sea View League title, will face each other Thursday at Woodbridge.
