New Jersey Stops Ottawa in Overtime

Brendan Morrison scored 2:52 into overtime to give the New Jersey Devils a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Monday at Kanata, Canada.
A goal by Ottawa’s Vinnie Prospal in the final second of regulation forced overtime.
In other games: Lubos Bartecko scored twice and Todd Reirden had three assists as the Blues beat the Rangers, 5-2, at New York. St. Louis is 14-5-4 since defenseman Al MacInnis returned from an injury. . . . Sergei Berezin scored twice and had an assist as the Maple Leafs beat the Sabres, 6-2, at Toronto. Toronto has the best record in the Eastern Conference and Coach Pat Quinn will lead the North American team in the All-Star game. . . . Alex Tanguay of Colorado scored late in the third period and the Avalanche and Oilers tied, 2-2, at Denver.

New York Islander forward Gino Odjick was suspended by the NHL for eight games without pay for sucker-punching Pittsburgh’s Darius Kasparaitis during a game last week.
