LYNWOOD — The second youth killed in a shooting in the drive-through lane of a fast food restaurant has been identified as Jorge Armando Avalos, 14, of South Gate, a coroner’s spokesman said.
The shooting Sunday night, which police say was gang-related, also claimed the life of Daisy Ibarra, a 3-year-old from South Gate. Daisy’s 20-year-old mother and a 19-year-old man were injured in the shooting. Investigators declined to identify the injured adults, saying that to do so could jeopardize their safety.
Scott Carrier of the coroner’s office said Avalos and Ibarra died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Sheriff’s investigators say two gunmen jumped out of a van at the drive-through lane of a busy Taco Bell on Long Beach Boulevard and opened fire on a blue Toyota carrying the four victims.
On Monday, sheriff’s deputies discovered the white Chevy van that they believe was used in the shooting abandoned a few blocks from the site of the attack. The van had been reported stolen in South Gate.
