The City Council on Tuesday approved the allocation of $16,000 to help the Kennedy High School band fund the cost of participating in the 2000 Olympic Games.
By a 5-O vote, the council voted to assist the band with money to help offset the cost of the trip.
The total cost for each of the 129 students who will attend the Games will be $3,000, for a total of $387,000.
Band members have raised more than $27,000 through merchandise sales and other activities.
Individuals who would like to make donations can visit the bands Web site at https://www.kennedyband.org.
