The Police Department is accepting applications for its next Community Police Academy, scheduled to begin in March. The academy is part of the department’s Community Oriented Policing Program, designed to provide residents and local business people a look into its daily operations.
During the 12-week academy, participants will tour the police facility and meet the officers, staff members and civilian employees. They will also observe canine and SWAT demonstrations, ride along with a patrol officer and take part in firearms training.
The classes will be held 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Participants must be at least 21. Information: (714) 593-4485.
