* Re “Health Panel Seeks Grant, Draws Rebuke,” June 6.
We want to express our support for the new Ventura County Mental Health Board and its current chair. Finally it appears that Ventura County is getting the level of intelligent review of mental health issues and programs that it needs--a quality of oversight and active advocacy that, had it been in existence in the past few years, might have saved county taxpayers millions of dollars.
Specifically, we want to make a clear statement of support for the concept of independent funding of the mental health board. The proposed funding of $50,000 is a sound investment in the public interest and is long overdue.
