Regarding Christopher Reynolds’ “Slovenia’s Quiet Beauty” (June 4): I couldn’t believe someone else had discovered Lake Bled. So far away and yet so beautiful.
Two years ago, my husband, George, and I joined a bus tour made up of Dutch travelers. We were the only Americans on the trip to Austria from the Netherlands. We stayed in a village and each day were taken out to discover the sights. Included was a day trip to lunch in a lovely hotel next to Lake Bled.

Not only is Slovenia’s countryside gorgeous and peaceful, but so are its people. During this past year I had the privilege of working with a man who was from Slovenia. He and his family shared their wonderful homeland’s photos and stories with me. Newspaper photos really do not do justice to the true beauty of their land or its people.
