The City Council approved a motion last week to hold a “Family Fun Day” on Aug. 26 to celebrate no jets flying at the former El Toro Marine base. A certificate of appreciation was presented to Marion Pack, project director for Citizens for Safe and Healthy Communities. Pack said the day is suppose to remind everyone that the fight against the proposed commercial airport, which has quieted since the victory of Measure F in March, isn’t over. “There’s still a long way to go,” she said.
