1997 Castello di Ama Chianti Classico

The gorgeous ruby color and the depth of sweetness on the nose are the first clues that Castello di Ama’s 1997 Chianti Classico is a knockout. The flavors in this normale are so closely woven, it’s impossible to separate them out. The estate chose not to make a riserva in 1997, so all that beautiful juice went into the regular Chianti. And as great as some of the ’97 Chiantis are, Castello di Ama’s normale could be the most elegant wine of the vintage.
