Man Tries to Lure Girl, 7, From Store, Officials Say

INDUSTRY — Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who approached a 7-year-old girl in a Kmart store and tried to persuade her to leave with him, authorities said.
The attempted abduction occurred at about 11 a.m. Monday at 333 Hacienda Blvd., said Lt. Tim Murakami of the Industry station.
The girl was shopping with her mother when the male suspect approached her at least twice--once in the general store and once in the food court, Murakami said. The suspect offered her money to leave with him, Murakami said.
When the girl refused, the man left the store and the girl told her mother, who notified authorities, Murakami said.
The suspect is described as having dark hair, about 30 years old, 5-feet-4 and about 150 pounds.
Detectives are reviewing store security videotape to see if the suspect was photographed, investigators said.
