Thomas Burns wowed children at the El Toro Library on Tuesday with tales of the “mountain men,” the rough and tough fur trappers of the early 1800s who paved the way for America to expand westward.
Clad in mountain-man dress, Burns showed off artifacts from the 1820s and ‘30s when mountain men roamed the rural West and traded wares with Native American tribes.
The “Mountain Men” program at Lake Forest’s El Toro Library kicks off the library’s summer reading program, in which weekly programs keep children’s minds active during the school-free summer months. (949) 855-8173.
