A 38-year-old North Hollywood man was shot to death, allegedly by a friend after an argument early Monday morning, Los Angeles police said.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired found Craig Evan Shemwell on the bathroom floor of his apartment on the 11400 block of Emelita Street about 3:20 a.m., said LAPD Det. Steve Metz. Shemwell was shot in the upper torso and was pronounced dead at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, Metz said.
Police were searching for Johnny Whitfield, 36, of Fontana, in connection with the slaying.
Whitfield had gone to Shemwell’s apartment about 3 a.m. to continue an argument, said Metz. The men argued outside and Whitfield allegedly shot Shemwell several times with a handgun, he said.
Whitfield fled in a late model, white, four-door car. Anyone with information should call North Hollywood detectives at (818) 623-4075 or (818) 623-4016.
