POMONA — A fire believed to have been set by an arsonist destroyed eight businesses in a commercial building Wednesday morning.
The blaze was reported at 2:42 a.m. at Hoa Binh Plaza, 433 E. Holt Ave. It spread quickly, and it took 75 firefighters nearly two hours to bring it under control, said Capt. Steve Valenzuela of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. There were no reports of injuries in the incident.
The strip-mall building housed a doctor’s office, a dentist’s office, a pharmacy, a hair salon, a video store, a bakery, a restaurant and a photo-processing store, Valenzuela said. Damage was estimated at $900,000.
Valenzuela said fire officials would not release any more details about the fire because the blaze is being investigated for arson.
