Andre Agassi overcame four match points in a sloppy but thrilling tiebreaker Wednesday to defeat Tim Henman of England, 7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (10), in the quarterfinals of the Ericsson Open at Key Biscayne, Fla.
Henman, charging to the net at every opportunity, squandered one chance by double-faulting into the bottom of the net.
Agassi had a match point at 7-6 but punched an easy return into the net. He then shanked a forehand at 7-7.
But the No. 1-seeded Agassi won the final three points, passing Henman with a cross-court backhand for the victory.
“I got a little lucky,” Agassi said.
In women’s play, No. 1-seeded Martina Hingis and No. 7 Monica Seles advanced in straight sets and will meet in the semifinals today.
