Tustin Faces Semifinal on the Road

Tustin stunned second-seeded Villa Park on Friday in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Section Division III baseball playoffs, but the Tillers weren’t so fortunate Saturday.
Tustin (19-7-2) lost a coin toss and will travel to face Covina Charter Oak (22-7) in a semifinal Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.
To reach the semifinals, the Tillers defeated Whittier La Serna, 4-0, Palm Desert, 13-1, and Villa Park, 7-1. Charter Oak defeated Sonora, 11-9, Burbank Burroughs, 3-1, and Westlake Village Westlake, 6-5, in nine innings.
Tuesday’s winner will meet the winner of the semifinal between top-seeded West Torrance and Riverside Norte Vista in the championship game June 3 at Dodger Stadium.
In Division I, Capistrano Valley (21-8) faces Los Alamitos (19-10) in a semifinal at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Blair Field in Long Beach. The Cougars have won 10 consecutive games; the Griffins have won nine in a row.
Long Beach Wilson (22-9), a wild-card entrant, faces second-seeded Temecula Valley (26-3) in the 7 p.m. semifinal. The winners meet June 3 at Dodger Stadium.

Sonora, the second-seeded team in the Southern Section Division III softball playoffs, will play its semifinal game at home, the section announced Saturday.
The Raiders won a coin flip and will play Pacifica, the three-time defending champion, at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.
In the other semifinal, Laguna Hills will play at Hacienda Heights Wilson, the top-seeded team in the division.
In Division I, top-seeded Mater Dei will play at Camarillo, and Etiwanda will play at third-seeded Foothill.
