Artist to Host Demonstration

Moorpark artist and teacher Art Hernandez will host a drawing demonstration for guests and members of the Simi Valley Art Assn. at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Simi Valley Library.
The Fulbright scholar, who once taught art in England, will lead a hands-on demonstration with a model on the art of drawing, he said.
Hernandez said he encourages participation during his demonstration.
Art is not all about talent; it’s largely about observation, he said.
“People think artists see things differently,” said Hernandez, who has a doctorate in urban policy and planning. “Many times it’s just slowing the eye down to the speed of our hand.”
The event, open to artists of all levels, costs $2 for art association members and $4 for guests. Participants are asked to bring a pencil and sketch pad, Hernandez said.
The library is at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.
