Time for Kings, Ducks to Put Effort on Ice
- Share via
It may take King management until the time their attendance average falls below that of the Disney Ducks to figure out that it takes more than loud music and an overrated building to keep fans returning and season seats sold.
I would bet the team’s inconsistent effort and play has Dave Taylor doing the Jerry West stress. Let it be known that my fellow season-seatmates would rather watch a hard-fought loss to Phoenix than a five-goal win over Columbus.
Andy Murray demands accountability and commitment, but preaching will only go as far as management is willing to back up [those traits].
The Kings have a long way to go before needing to worry about having a playoff-caliber goalie. The fans demand effort, and now. If that takes a major trade for players who are ready to commit, then the sooner the better.

The Times recently asked why attendance is down again for the Mighty Ducks. We get tired of reading, every time they lose, quotes from the well-paid players saying they didn’t try hard enough or were out-hustled. For more than $60 per ticket, is it too much to ask to see a team that is at least trying its hardest?

I’m not saying the Kings have a goaltending problem, but Jamie Storr lets more get by him than Lucy and Ethel at the chocolate factory.
