Pat Campbell ran for one touchdown and passed for two more Friday night to lead Ocean View over visiting Santa Ana, 24-6, in a Golden West League game at Westminster High.
The Seahawks (5-4, 1-2) scored eight points in each of the first three quarters to put away the Saints (0-9, 0-4).
Ocean View took advantage of a Saint turnover early in the first quarter to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Santa Ana’s Roger Martinez pitched the ball over the head of running back Terrance Long and the Seahawks recovered on the Santa Ana 19-yard line.
Three plays later, Campbell hit wide-open Adam Nimmo in the end zone on a six-yard scoring pass.
On Ocean View’s next series, Campbell increased the lead to 14-0 on a 14-yard run.
The Seahawks’ leading rusher, Jason Rhoads, was held to only six yards in eight first-half carries and Campbell completed just five passes for 19 yards and threw one interception in the first half.
Santa Ana scored in the third quarter after a five-minute drive that covered 71 yards. Fullback Jesus Ramirez plunged into the end zone from four yards out to cut the deficit to 16-6.
Ocean View answered on its next possession. Campbell completed three of four passes on the drive, including a 36-yard touchdown pass to Bryton Stefnik.
