The Planning Commission approved a request to install a low-flow, urban runoff water treatment system to clean and disinfect the water in Aliso Creek at their meeting Tuesday. The treatment system will use a solids separator, filtration and ultraviolet disinfection to remove high levels of fecal coliform bacteria from the water while it flows through storm drains in Aliso Woods Canyon Regional Park.
Once the water has been treated it will be discharged back into the stream just before the waters converge with Sulphur Creek.
