Water Runoff Permit Hearing Set for Jan. 9

A hearing on a controversial runoff permit proposal for south Orange County has been scheduled for Jan. 9 in Mission Viejo.
The San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board, which enforces the Clean Water Act and state water laws in South County, canceled a hearing on the permit last month for lack of a quorum.
The permit, which county and city officials say will cost billions to implement, would make cities and the county ensure that runoff from streets and lawns is clean before it reaches the ocean.
The January session will be at 9 a.m. in Mission Viejo City Council chambers.
