Daly, Randall Earn Volleyball Honors

San Clemente and Santa Ana Mater Dei won their first Southern Section championships in girls’ volleyball. Their top players were further rewarded on Wednesday.
San Clemente outside hitter Katy Daly, who has signed with Pepperdine, was selected Southern Section Division I co-most valuable player with outside hitter Jennifer Randall of Long Beach Poly.
Mater Dei opposite hitter Breegan Mulligan, who has also signed with Pepperdine, was selected Division II co-MVP with Nebraska-bound middle blocker Olivia Waldowski of Irvine.
In Division III, middle blocker Terbrie Taylor of North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake and setter Nicole Ridley of Lakewood St. Joseph were co-MVPs.
In Division IV, L.A. Marymount setter and outside hitter Haley Jorgensborg, who has signed with UCLA, was selected co-MVP with Erin Balak of San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret’s.
Jamie DeKiewiet of Hemet Baptist Christian was MVP in Division V.
Coach of the year awards went to Rob O’Rear of San Clemente (Division I); Debbie Litten of Ventura (Division II); Mike Hinton of St. Joseph (Division III); Cari Klein of Marymount and Susie Maga of St. Margaret’s (Division IV); and Cyndi Klingaman of Baptist Christian and Pam Snively of Hesperia Christian (Division V).
In the City Section, Hala Hadawar of Van Nuys and Evelyn Bluthenthal of Venice were selected co-players of the year.
