* Government: Most city of Los Angeles offices are open half a day Monday. Most county offices are open regular hours Monday. Many federal offices are closed Monday. All city, county, state and federal offices are closed Tuesday.
* Courts: All courts are closed Tuesday.
* Libraries: Some libraries will be closed or have shorter hours today and Monday. City and county libraries are closed Tuesday.
* Banks: Most banks will have shorter hours Monday. All banks will be closed Tuesday.
* Schools: The Los Angeles Unified School District is closed until Jan. 2. Most other public schools in Los Angeles County are closed until Jan. 7.
* Mail: All post offices will be closed and no mail will be delivered Tuesday.
* Trash: There will be no trash pickup in the city of Los Angeles on Tuesday. If your trash is normally picked up Tuesday-Friday, pickup will be postponed one day.
* Transportation: The MTA is offering free rides on buses from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, and on the rail system from 9 p.m. Monday to closing (generally at midnight). MTA rail service and buses will follow Sunday schedules on Tuesday. Metrolink trains are closed Tuesday.
