Hahn: Pressure Won’t Affect Decision on Parks
- Share via
Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn said Friday that his decision about whether to support a second term for Police Chief Bernard C. Parks will not be influenced by political pressure.
Hahn’s comments came a day after The Times reported that Parks told a group of supporters on Dec. 10 that he wants to stay at the helm of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The chief’s supporters, an assortment of civic and business leaders, began discussing a strategy to persuade Hahn and other city officials to keep Parks in the job. They hope to demonstrate that he has broad support in the business community, as well as among African Americans.
