Loyola’s Victory Is Smooth

Omar Wilkes, one of the top shooting guards in Southern California, made seven three-point baskets and scored 31 points to help Los Angeles Loyola defeat Lakewood Mayfair, 90-74, Friday in a nonleague game at Loyola High.
Wilkes, the son of former UCLA and NBA player Jamaal Wilkes, made 12 of 18 shots for the Cubs (9-0), No. 9 in The Times’ rankings.
Loyola received a strong second half from 6-foot-7 center Chris Rucker, who had all 11 of his rebounds and 16 of his 22 points.
Matt Craw led Mayfair (5-4) with 20 points.
Vince Oliver scored 13 points off the bench for Loyola.
