Soldiers to Keep Order After Minister Is Killed

The president of Nigeria deployed troops to defuse mounting political tension in the country’s southwest after his justice minister was killed in an attack at home.
Bola Ige, 71, was also the country’s attorney general. He was shot after several assailants broke into his home in the southwestern city of Ibadan, government officials and family members said.
President Olusegun Obasanjo issued a statement that said “no effort will be spared” to end Nigeria’s “culture of violence in politics.” The president later ordered army troops into the streets of Osun state, near Ibadan, amid fears of violence.
