Trip to Las Vegas Bowl Is a Bust for Trojans

Watched the USC-Utah game and I just can’t stop wondering.

I wonder if we can keep the coaches this time and just recruit some decent young men who can actually block and kick.

I wonder just how much Stanford has compromised itself academically to be competitive athletically. (Were any Trojans all-academic this year?)

I wonder if Stanford’s president and athletic director return any of their phone calls or just use their phones to leave messages notifying loyal employees they’ve been fired.

I wonder if it would have been more honorable to lose to Fresno State this time around.

Lastly, looking at USC today, I had to really wonder, how bad is UCLA?

I see the mighty Trojans amassed one yard rushing against those powerhouse Utah Utes! Thank you for not printing my letter two weeks ago when I retracted previously printed derogatory comments on their offensive and defensive linegirls.

Now, for Norm Chow: My kid asked me if a blitzing defense left people uncovered in the secondary. He asked me if screen passes worked. Play-action slant passes? West Coast type stuff. So, I passed the torch. It was time. I gave him the remote and my armchair and sat on the floor to play with his Christmas toys.

In case anyone is wondering, that’s 1.44 inches per carry.

The media was saying, “The Trojans are back,” and, “Carroll is finally the right guy.” All this as the result of a four-game winning streak during which they beat a team in a slump (UCLA), a team on an official’s atrocious call (Arizona), the league’s last-place team (Cal) and Oregon State on turnovers in one of the ugliest games I’ve ever seen.

The Las Vegas Bowl was the return to reality. The program still has a long way to go, and the jury remains out on Carroll.

Can we finally get a little objectivity here?
