Saddleback Finishes With Streak Intact

Adrian Aguayo led Saddleback with 16 points as the Gauchos completed an unbeaten Orange Empire Conference season with a 74-57 victory over Irvine Valley in men’s basketball Friday night.

Mark Brown added 13 points, six assists and four steals for Saddleback (29-2, 14-0). Mike Ahmad had 16 points and 13 rebounds for Irvine Valley (16-15, 6-8).

In other conference games:

Fullerton 85, Golden West 76--Levar Grace scored 22 points and Romel Beck 20 as visiting Fullerton (21-10, 8-6) held Golden West (2-24, 0-14) scoreless in the final two minutes after the Rustlers had pulled within 80-76. Datnell Graham had 16 points and eight rebounds for Golden West.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball:

Saddleback 57, Irvine Valley 55--Kalena Jackson led all scorers with 26 points as Saddleback (8-21, 4-10) closed the season with a road victory. Faia Suiaunoa and Dawn Regan each had 16 points for Irvine Valley (21-10, 9-5).

In the Palomar baseball tournament:

Palomar 4-5, Irvine Valley 0-3--Bobby Pearce and Scott Zine had three hits each in the second game for Irvine Valley (4-5).

Zine doubled, scored two runs and had an RBI in the second game.
