In nonleague boys’ basketball:
Laguna Hills 72, Marina 60--Jeff Sherman had 16 points, Marc Dimick scored 15 and Chris Lee and Matt Donat had 12 each for host Laguna Hills (14-7).
Beau Brown had 16 points for Marina.
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Aliso Niguel 52, Ocean View 40--Julia Pederson had 21 points and Jamie Saiz scored 10 for host Aliso Niguel (15-5).
Leila Abufarie led Ocean View (7-14) with 18 points.
No. 3 Brea Olinda 74, Mater Dei 67--Jackie Lord scored 21 points and Carrie Noyes had 18 for the Ladycats (14-4, 4-0), who won their fifth game in six nights.
No. 7 Huntington Beach 62, No. 10 Westminster 53--Amy Sanders had 23 points and 15 rebounds for Huntington Beach (10-9), which outscored Westminster, 21-9, in the third quarter.
Biava Arganda had 16 points for Westminster.
Laguna Hills 54, Century 42--Christen D’Alessandro scored 17 points for Laguna Hills (14-8).
Elizabeth Mendoza scored 18 points and Charlenda Van Buren had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Century (11-8).
Los Alamitos 50, Santa Ana 36--Stephanie Duda had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Melody Klemin had 13 points and four assists, and Lindsay Geoffroy had seven points and eight blocked shots for the Griffins (9-11).
No. 8 Rosary 68, Pacifica 43--Jenise Karcher scored 22 points and Katie Godoy added 10 for the host Royals (17-6). Sarah Leathers scored 12 points for Pacifica (13-7).
Santa Margarita 54, Santa Barbara San Marcos 39--Garland Cooper had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Kim Bloomgren scored 10 points and Kristin Lynch had five steals for the host Eagles (16-5).
No. 5 Troy 55, Chino Hills Ayala 38--Troy’s tight defense forced 16 turnovers, which yielded 14 of its points off fast-break baskets.
Veronica Johns-Richardson and Amanda Livingston scored 15 points each and Alicia Komaki added 13 points for the host Warriors (16-4, 4-0).
In nonleague girls’ water polo:
Marina 6, El Cajon Valhalla 5 (sudden death)--Erin Wilson scored the winning goal four minutes into sudden death off an assist from freshman goalkeeper Bree Valbuena, who had 13 saves.
No. 4 Santa Margarita 7, No. 10 Corona del Mar 4--Katy Kunkel and Erika Figge each scored two goals for visiting Santa Margarita (12-4). Corona del Mar is 9-9.
