The opening of “Native Peoples’ Textiles From the Philippines” at Mission San Juan Capistrano will be postponed a week, until Feb. 3, because museum officials said they need more time to install the show.
The exhibition will feature religious vestments, evening attire, wedding garments, scarves and decorative book covers. The materials are made mostly of fruit fibers and are hand-woven and embroidered using traditional techniques by members of 20 native tribes of the Philippines.
