Finance Ministers Share an Optimistic Outlook

Finance ministers from the world’s top economic powers acknowledged that the global economy has slowed more than expected but insisted that it is primed for a turnaround.
The one-day gathering in Rome of ministers from the Group of Seven industrialized nations, was preparing the agenda for a July 20-22 summit of G-8 leaders in the northern Italian city of Genoa.
The meeting involved officials from the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Canada. Officials from Russia, which is a member of G-8, were also present.
