Shares of musical instrument retailer Guitar Center Inc. plunged 19% after it warned that second-quarter profit would be 17 to 18 cents a share. The Westlake Village company was expected by Wall Street to earn 20 cents. Its stock fell $3.80 to close at $16 on Nasdaq. Final results for the quarter will be released July 31.
