A Placentia man has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager who was shot during a gang-related attack in 1999, police said.
Robert Anthony Chapa, 18, was booked into the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on suspicion of killing Jason Segovia, 15, of Placentia, police spokeswoman Corrine Loomis said.
Segovia was shot by two youths on bicycles who opened fire on a parked car in which he was sitting, investigators said. Witnesses to the attack, which occurred on Tafolla Street, told police they saw the two juveniles shoot into a white sedan, hitting one of four boys inside.
The driver sped to Segovia’s home near La Jolla Street and Arnold Drive, where Segovia died, police said.
Prosecutors said they are seeking to have Chapa, who was arrested Tuesday, prosecuted as an adult.
