Man’s Home Menagerie Gets Reprieve for Now

A man whose backyard is home to two alligators, 100 exotic birds, two potbellied pigs and two chickens can keep the animals for now.
The City Council Tuesday voted 4-1 to uphold the man’s appeal of the city planning director’s earlier decision not to let the animals stay. The council will review the situation in August.
About 100 residents attended the meeting, many to support Nicholas Amodio, who keeps the animals in his backyard in the 22000 block of Savona.
“I feel wonderful,” Savona said after the vote. “It’s a big relief. It’s kind of neat that all the neighbors came in to back me up.”
