Founders of the national Jesse Cause Foundation will host a series of events to raise awareness of Group B Strep, a leading cause of death among newborns.
Chris and Shelene Keith founded the Ventura-based nonprofit group after their son Jesse was stricken with the bacterial infection at birth four years ago. Jesse has made a full recovery. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, GBS is the most common cause of meningitis and sepsis, a type of blood infection.
The foundation will present a free concert tonight at 7:30 at Bible Fellowship Church at 950 Ralston Ave. in Ventura. Chris Keith and his band, To the Cross, will perform Christian rock.
The foundation will also host a golf tournament July 23 at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo.
