Arizona Gets 20 Wins; Woods Still Ineffective

Another 20-victory season for Arizona, another miserable night for Wildcat center Loren Woods.
Luke Walton, with a new Marine-style haircut, matched his season high with 16 points as ninth-ranked Arizona beat Oregon State, 65-54, Thursday night at Tucson to give the Wildcats 20 victories for the 14th season in a row.
The 7-foot-2 Woods, in his next-to-last home game, had two points, was 0 for 4 from the field and had two rebounds in 26 minutes.
Afterward, he expressed his frustration by admitting he wishes he would have left for the NBA after his junior season.
“Yeah, I regret it,” Woods said. “Out of 59 players chosen in the draft, I can at least be 59th. I wish I would have left last year, because I at least would have gone out on top.”
Arizona is 20-7 overall and 12-3 in in the Pacific 10. Oregon State fell to 10-18 and 4-12 in losing for the 19th consecutive time at McKale Center.
Arizona State 86, Oregon 74--Alton Mason made 17 of 19 free throws and scored 25 points to lead the Sun Devils (12-14, 4-11) at Tempe, Ariz.
Oregon (13-13, 4-12) got a career-high 36 points from Frederick Jones.
