In nonleague boys’ tennis:
No. 1 Corona del Mar 14, Beverly Hills 4--Sophomore Garrett Snyder, at No. 2 singles, lost only one game, sweeping, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, for Corona del Mar (3-0).
In the Fullerton softball tournament:
Sonora 2, Troy 0--Senior Carrie Wisen did it all for Sonora (3-0), pitching a complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts, and hitting a two-run home run in the third inning for the only score.
In nonleague softball:
Santa Ana Valley 2, Magnolia 0 (8)--Junior Arlene Newton doubled in the winning run in the eighth and pitched a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts for visiting Santa Ana Valley (1-4).
Tustin 3, Capistrano Valley 3 (13, darkness)--Diana LaRiva struck out 23 as Tustin (2-2-1) tied the score in the sixth inning. Ashlee Cappucci was four for six at the plate with a triple, RBI and run. Brooke Weekley struck out 16 for host Capistrano Valley (0-0-1).
In nonleague golf:
Esperanza 390, No. 1 Servite 392--Esperanza freshman Derek Sipes was medalist with a three-over-par 73 at Los Coyotes and Yorba Linda. Servite was without Nico Bollini, who was playing at a tournament in Argentina.
In Garden Grove League boys’ track and field:
Bolsa Grande 65, Santiago 54--Sophomore Omar Ayala won three events (800, 1,600, 3,200) for Bolsa Grande.
In a nonleague meet:
Marina 74, El Modena 57--Junior Ninh Bui took first place in the long jump (20-10 1/2) and triple jump (42-9) and ran the first leg of the 400 relay (45.1) for host Marina (1-0).
In Garden Grove League girls’ track and field:
La Quinta 75, Rancho Alamitos 51--Senior Kim Duong was a four-event winner for La Quinta, taking the 100-meter dash in 13.4, the 200 in 28.4, the long jump in 15-7 and the triple jump in 35-2.
In a nonleague meet:
Marina 72, No. 8 El Modena 62--Vanessa Kelly won the 3,200 (12:28.5) and anchored the winning 1,600 relay team (4:21.4) for host Marina (1-0).
In nonleague boys’ volleyball:
No. 8 San Clemente 3, University 2--Nick Gardner had 47 kills for visiting San Clemente, which won, 15-8, 14-16, 7-15, 15-4, 15-10.
Dan Talcott had 82 assists for the Tritons (2-0). Setiam Allah had 26 kills for University.
