Regime Ousts BBC Over Statue Coverage

The Taliban regime shut down the British Broadcasting Corp.’s office in Kabul, the Afghan capital, and ordered its correspondent to leave, accusing the BBC of biased coverage of the destruction of ancient statues of Buddha.
The BBC’s reporting on the demolition of the towering Buddhas at Bamian, about 80 miles northwest of Kabul, was misleading and hostile, the Taliban said.
Correspondent Kate Clark was ordered to leave within 24 hours, said Abdul Salam Zaeef, the Taliban’s ambassador to Pakistan.
