WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN LATELY? SAN FRANCISCO

I took my kids, Rachel, 13, and Erin, 11. We stayed at the Mandarin [Oriental] Hotel. It’s just gorgeous. The kids love room service, so every morning we had room service. Then we went to Twin Peaks, where you look out over the city. We went across the Golden Gate Bridge. (They couldn’t understand why it’s not golden.) We went to Sausalito for Chinese seafood. And we spent about 2 1/2 hours at Alcatraz. The girls were absolutely blown away.
DISCOVERY: The Palomino restaurant down on the wharf was highly recommended to me, and I’d highly recommend it to people with children. The food is to die for, and the service is incredible. In the daytime you can walk across the street to the water, and that’s where the seals are. They stink.
