* Re “Report Links Crime to Bad Child Care,” March 15:
An early investment in children offers lifetime benefits and implications for success; today’s quality of child care will have a great impact on our futures and the quality of life in California. While it is vital that all children have the opportunity to receive quality child care, currently there are a great number of families that quite simply cannot afford it. I urge Gov. Gray Davis and the California Legislature to invest in California’s future and increase the amount allocated in the budget for child care subsidies. This small investment today will be repaid a hundredfold in the future.
