Re John Phillips’ March 19 obituary: In 1968, my maternal grandmother was in the hospital (now known as Cedars-Sinai) being treated for a deadly heart condition. My parents had parked their car in a lot, but when they were leaving, saw that the lot (and their car) were locked up for the night. From a small house next door, a man overheard their dismay, came out and asked if he could help. They explained their situation, told him of my grandmother’s imminent death, and he immediately offered them a ride home. On the way back to our house, my mom innocently said, “What a beautiful car, what is it?”
And John Phillips shyly replied, “It’s a Lamborghini, especially built for me, especially built for my karma, for situations such as these, when I can help someone who needs it.” God bless you, John. You gave much more than your music.
