Sophomore Delmon Young of Camarillo will be sidelined indefinitely pending the result of an MRI this week on his injured right elbow, Coach Scott Cline said.
Young was initially diagnosed with a strained triceps tendon after leaving Friday’s game against Hueneme.
Young is batting .347 with three home runs and eight RBIs. Five of his eight hits are for extra bases.
He pitched one inning Friday before leaving the game. He walked four and threw a wild pitch.
“We’re not planning on having him back for a while,” Cline said. “He’s young and we’ll be careful.”

Since starting Marmonte League play with a 2-2, 11-inning tie with Newbury Park, Westlake has scored 43 runs in four games and gone 3-1.
The Warriors have used six different lineups this season. The most notable change was switching pitcher-first baseman Tyler Adamczyk from fourth to third in the batting order and moving Mike Nickeas to the cleanup spot.
The move has worked. Adamczyk, who had four home runs last season, has five home runs in 29 at-bats hitting behind Nickeas.
Nickeas has 10 hits. His first eight hits were for extra bases, including three home runs.
