The Nasdaq Stock Market has removed 129 companies from listing on the market this year, possibly a record pace, because they didn’t have enough capital or a high enough stock price, market officials said. Nasdaq, which lists about 5,000 companies, has added 44 companies this year.
Amid the crash in many stocks--particularly tech issues--over the last year, more firms have been unable to meet Nasdaq’s listing standards. Last year, Nasdaq added 605 companies and delisted 240.
