Tax Cut Will Pay for Energy Costs
Re “Budget Wins Final Approval From Senate,” May 11: President Bush has said that he wants the American people to receive a tax cut so they can spend the money and help the economy. The only part of the economy that will be helped is that part selling natural gas, electricity and gasoline. Any tax cut we receive will probably pay for about 25% of higher energy costs, which means that even with a tax cut, we will have a lot less money to spend on other items.

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, President Bush and the GOP. Finally we have this huge tax cut, and money will flow into the pockets of the middle class and the poor. And just think: Now we’ll be able to pay the double price for gas, and we can call the electric company and have our lights turned back on--at least for a month.
