From Times Wire Reports
A group of 55 inmates escaped from a prison by tunneling into sewage pipes and crawling to freedom in Venezuela’s biggest jail break this year, authorities said.
The inmates at La Pica prison, in the eastern state of Monagas, were awaiting trial on charges including murder, rape and armed robbery.
The prisoners took advantage of a disruption caused by an electricity blackout Saturday to make their escape, police said. So far, none have been captured.
