The University of California will be the focus of a six-month state audit to determine if it is spending too much on administration.
The audit, expected to begin in November and to cost more than $200,000, was requested by Assemblywoman Jenny Oropeza (D-Long Beach), who said she is concerned that the university may not be keeping promises to raise the quality of undergraduate education in exchange for recent increases in state funding.
The university’s state funds amount to $3.36 billion for the current year, up $160 million from last year.
