A man was struck and killed Tuesday morning when his car stalled on the Hollywood Freeway at Vineland Avenue, authorities said.
The victim was standing in front of his car in a northbound lane about 5:30 a.m. when a car driven by Cesar Sandoval, 35, of Los Angeles hit the rear of the victim’s vehicle at 60 mph, said California Highway Patrol Officer Rosa Ray, a department spokeswoman.
The identity of the victim, who died at the scene, was being withheld until his relatives could be notified.
An unidentified male passenger in Sandoval’s car suffered moderate injuries. He was treated at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and released, Ray said.
