Claremont Heritage Home Tour: Visit four homes on self-guided tour, including a house designed by architect Richard Neutra. The post-and-beam home and studio of potter-sculptor Harrison McIntosh is also on the tour.
Location: Starting point is 4161 Via Padova, Claremont.
Time: Houses will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; allow two hours to see all of the houses.

Home Builders Council Inaugural Ball: “Warm Autumn Nights,” featuring the Don Miller Orchestra, will be held for the Home Builders Council, educational fund-raising arm of the Building Industry Assn.
Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel, 17941 Von Karman Ave., Irvine
Time: 6:30 p.m., cocktails, followed by dinner and dancing at 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $115 before Oct. 10; $135, afterward. Proceeds to provide scholarships and grants for students pursuing careers in the home-building industry.
