Bumps in the Road

Re “Street Work in L.A. Follows Odd Pattern,” Oct. 21: A little over a year ago I started to complain about our residential road. It has not been repaved since it was first laid, over 50 years ago; some repair, no repave. We are in the old area of Chatsworth, mostly no curbs or sidewalks. I called, then sent a letter to my councilman, Hal Bernson. Some months later I received a reply. They had sent a letter to the street repair department. I tried to follow up, but the street bureaucracy did nothing for over one year. Finally, a curt letter stating, “We have reviewed your request and have determined our schedule to repave your street will be seven years.” Thanks a lot. It is time to secede, not next year, now.
