Seychelles’ Surreal Beauty

While reading Susan Spano’s article (“The Best Beach in the World?” Los Angeles Times Magazine, Special Travel Issue, March 17), I immediately became nostalgic about my trip to the exotic Seychelles islands in March 2000.
My husband and I put the trip together ourselves. I got a great fare to Rome on Alitalia Airlines, and from Rome we flew Air Seychelles to the islands. My husband made the hotel reservations online. We visited the same three islands as Spano, staying at Lazare Picault. We rented a car and used local buses to explore.
It was worth it to go halfway around the world to see the surreal beauty of the Seychelles.
